How to: Ombre Dreamcatcher

He there my lovelies,

Spring is coming so it's time to bring out the bright colors and the crazy patterns and enjoy the warm weather. Today I have for you a colorful and really easy nail tutorial. I love green, blue and minty colors so I did an ombre look with these colors. For an accent I chose a simple dreamcatcher design because I love dreamcatchers and i like how the look with the background colors.

The nail polishes I used for this look are :
   *Picture 1 - Moda Matte Mint №306; Maybelline Colorama 120 Urban Turquoise;
*Picture 2 - Colden Rose Red №23 ; Flormar Navy Blue №398; the two little jars are full of little beads which I decided not to use.
*Things I forgot to make picture of: nail art brush; makeup sponge

First apply a base coat. I recently bought this Regenerating base by Perfect. In the bottle it looks like it has a color but it doesn't as you can see on the second picture. If the nail polish you're using won't stain your nails you can skip this step ( most light colors don't stain the nails) but I recommend using base everytime because it makes your nails harder and the nail polish stay longer.

On this picture I'm only with the mint nail polish that I'm using for a base color. It dries matte but that doesn't bothers we because I'll be using a top coat. I love this color for the spring and summer.

The most important part is the ombre look. To achieve that you'll need a makeup sponge. To do it easier for both of us I wrote the instructions on the picture. It's just that simple!

To create the look just dab the sponge on your nails and you're done. Once you do that the surface of your nails will be rough but the top coat will smooth it. Now just draw the dreamcatcher on your ring finger (or any finger you'd like). I kind of mess up the design with this dots but ... I still like it. here you can add color to your drawing by making small dots but my didn't turn out very good ...

To finish everything apply a top coat - mine is from Golden Rose. I hate waiting for the nail polish to dry so I spray my nails with my favourite Liquid freeze nail dry spray by Avon. It is quite oily so it makes my hands soft and smooth.

This is what the finished manicure looks like. I realy like the combination of the ombre and the dreamcatcher, even though I mess it up. I hope you enjoy it!

DIY: Photo frame

Hey there my lovelies,

I already have showed you Mother's Day gift - Photo Collage. From my own experience I know that it's difficult to find narrow frame, that's why I will show you how to make your own frame. It's not only cheaper but you can personalize it and there is nothing better than a personalized gift.

For this project you will need : photo, hard paper, ruler, pencil, scissors, glue, something for decoration and patience. So let's begin!

First trace the shape of your picture on the paper and mesure about 1,5 sm on each side to make the frame.Than cut out one piece for the back and one for the front. The back is the picture+ the frame, and the front only the frame.

Lay everything down and place them how you want them to be. Glue the picture to the back side and after that glue the front side. Be careful not to put glue on the photo.

Finaly to make the picture stand up you will need too harder pieces of paper. Cut out 2 identical rectangles and bent them at the same place. After that glue them to the back side on the same level.

To finish the frame and to make it look more beautiful you can color the whole frame ( if you decide to do that I suggest first to paint the parts, let them dry completely and after that glue everything together) or you can glue different decorations to it. I chose the second and just cut out this flowers from an old calendar. If you're good at drawing you can even draw something. It all up to you - make it to fit the personality of the person you're going to give the frame to ... or your own if you're keeping it for your self.

DIY: Mother's Day Photo Collage

Hey there my lovelies,

I know that all arround the world Mother's Day is celebrated ot a different day but in Bulgaria it is on 8th March every year. It can be stressful and hard to find the perfect gift for your mom, That's why I have a great idea for you. It is really easy and  cheap. So let's get started!

For this project you'll need white or colored paper, pencil, ruler, scissors, glue, old newspaper or magazine, paint( I use acrylic), time and passion.

First trace the letters you need on the paper. I need the letters "M" and "A" since in my language mother is spelled "мама". I make the letters by my self with a ruler but if you have a template you can use it. After that cut out the letters.

We will cover the letters with little pieces of newspaper and to seal that we will need a mixture of equal parts water and glue. This technique is called papier mache. After you've cut the newspaper in little pieces and have prepared the mixture you can start covering the letters with the newspaper and gluing it using a brush.

When you have finished covering the letters with the papier mache you should let them dry for at least 30min. After that color them. You can use whatever color you want. I chose red because I like it, so does my mom. I used acrylic paint but it ok to use even watercolours as long as they are pigmented enough to cover  the newspaper underneath. You can still see the newspaper on my letters but I think it looks cute so I let it like that. Once you're done coloring be sure to let the letters dry completely because if the pain is wet it will stain you hands.

Now comes the funniest part - filming. Set your background and start making pictures. I'm doing this with my brother so we are taking turns with the letters .Set the camera and ...say "cheese" :D

So this is one of the pictures I'll be using. I'm holding the "A"s and my brother is holding the "M"s. After a few minutes having fun with the camera you'll have enough photos to choose from. Pick the once you like and take them to the photo center. After that frame them or just glue them to any hard surface to make your own personalized frame. You can decorate them of your choice. Get creative and make your mother the happiest person on that day!

How to: Hearts

I already showed you 2 manicure designs with hearts. Now I think that it would be good to show you how to make those hearts. There are a few methods but you can also invent your own way. To draw the hearts you can use a thin brush, bobbi pin, toothpick or really anything you can draw with.

The first picture shows how to make hearts with thin nail polish brush. The "thing" in the bottle is nail polish remover. It's there because everytime I dip the brush in it it's covered with nail polish and the nail polish remover cleans it instead me. So to do the heart you simply draw 2 lines in the shape of "V". I used this technique in my Heart Flowers Manicure. They look really sweet and are easy to be done.

For the second heart I used a dotting tool. I can't remember where I got mine from but you can find them everywhere and they're very cheap. To make the heart just make 2 dots near to each other and connect them. With this technique you can make fuller hearts but they are still cute and easy. I used one like these in my Valentine's Day Inspired Manicure.

Finally on this picture I wanted to show you how the hearts look when they're made with different tool. You can see which heart with which tool is made. From left to right - thin brush; tooth pick; bobbi pin; dotting tool. They are looking almost the same (for me) but on the nails they can look different, depending on the artist.

Hope you have fun and this post was usefull for you. Feel free to tell me what tools do you use to make little designs (drawing) on your nail. I'd love to learn something new. =]

Heart Flowers Manicure

     Hey there my lovelies,
Valentine's Day is in the past but that doesn't meant that the love is gone with it. We should love and show our love every day. That's why I have another love themed manicure today. You can put hearts on your nails no matter what day it is. They are symbols of love and a cute and easy design to make. Put on your creativity mood and lets get started !

Step 1: As always start with clean nails. Be sure that you've removed all of the nail polishes that you've had before. Shape and file your nails if you need to.

Step 2: Apply a base coat. I just finished mine so I'm using my top coat. It's ok to do that because yout base coat protects your nails from turning yellow because of  the color of the nail polish, that you're going to use later. Don't skip this step because i's very important for your nails!!
The base/ top coat that I'm usig here is by Golden Rose and it has a maxi brush which really makes the applycation a lot easier ;p

Step 3: When your base is dry apply the nail polish. For this manicure I choose the base to be a nude color but you can use white, even green but don't use red ot pink ones because we want our flowers to stand out.
The color I've used here is Golden Rose 06 which is really nice nude.

Step 4: Make the heart flowers. I wanted them to look like someone has drew them so I just made the shape "V" with the red nail polish using a thin nail brush or anything you can draw lines with. After that just make a brown line to make the stalk. The last thing is to draw 2 small leaves on each flower. If you are not good in drawing with nail polishes you can draw your flowers with acrylic paint.

Step 5: Apply a top goat and you're done. Now you have a beautiful and feminine manicure.

Here are the polishes I've used to create this manicure:
From left to right : Golden Rose 06; Golden Rose 23; Clasics 62 (brown); Catherine Arley Deep Green, Golden Rose Top goat gel look.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. I had fun making this manicure because it's just so easy and it looks great on both short and long nails. I will get into more details in my next posts. If you haven't understood how I'm making the hearts or any other step feel free to ask me. I'll do my best to answer all of your questions ;p

                                                                                                                             xoxo .... Aleks

Valentine's Day Inspired Manicure

Hey there,
Valentine's Day is just around the corner so I think that It may be a good idea to show you some of my Valentine's Day inspired manicures. The design I'm going to show you today is really easy to be made and doesn't need any special tools or skills. All you need is 2 contrast nail polishes and a thin brush or even a toothpick ot bobby pin. So let's begin!

Step 1: Begin with clear nails. Shape and file them if it's needed. Apply a base coat and wait till it's completely dry.

Step 2: Apply your base color ( it can be whatever color you want). I prefer to use the nude colour for basic because that will help the red hearts to stand out. I forgot to make picture of  this step but here are all of the color I've used.

From left to fight - Golden Rose 05 (my base color); Golden Rose 23 ( deep red for the hearts); Golden Rose Gel look top coat ( which I used  also as a base ;d).

Step 3 : Draw  the hearts by making 2 dots close to each other and than connecting them.
Step 4 : Wait till it dries little bit and apply your top coat. Don't apply it right after you've made your design becaouse it cat smudge the hearts.

And here you have your easy and simple Valentine's Day manicure. Because of the basic colors these nails will go with almost everything.

Hope you like this design. Be sure to write in the coments if you have tryed it. =]
